Purchase of Toyotas for Johor exco made after official review, says MB

THE recent purchase of new Toyota Camry cars for Johor executive council members was made after an assessment by the Public Works Department (JKR), said Menteri Besar Sahruddin Jamal.

He said the state government had bought 15 Toyota Camry cars to replace the old official vehicles, a Honda Accord model that had been in use for more than six years, with an average mileage of between 350,000 and 400,000km.

  • There are leaders question the purchase bcos Johor increase the assessment rate and other rates substantially. Timing is very important what leaders are doing. No sense of prudence in hard time complaining insufficient budget yet can buy expensive cars. Do like Penang and Selangor, make the money first then buying what they deserve. A good PH leader will question whenever necessary and appropriate.

  • Public must start questioning leaders for what they are utilizing public fund. Like this case, if I were the MB, I will postpone the purchase until the state financial position is more stable. They just don't care, after all its govt money. Next round voters must know what leaders to vote for.
