Clarification on article related to Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill

THE Malaysian Insight on February 13 carried an article, Injunction to prevent dissolution of top law firms set aside, which has since been retracted.

The following is a letter from Shearn Delamore on behalf of Lambert Rasa-Ratnam and others:

“We write on behalf of our clients, namely Lambert Rasa-Ratnam & others, the plaintiffs referred to in the story.

We refer to the email dated February 13, 2020 at 9.56pm from Chetan Jetwani of Chetan Jetwani and Co in relation to the online article that appeared in The Malaysian Insight.

As per the email from Chetan Jetwani, we demand, as solicitors for the plaintiffs, that you publish immediately the following statement:

“During the course of the negotiations, and even before the appearance of the parties before the court to record any terms, certain articles began circulating online and on social media carrying the headline ‘Injunction to prevent dissolution of top law firms set aside’.

“The plaintiffs, Lambert Rasa-Ratnam & others, and the defendants, D.P. Naban & others, jointly state that these statements and articles are wholly untrue and without basis in fact. Separately, certain other messages began circulating on social media suggesting that the firm of Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill have lost their application for interlocutory injunctive relief are also incorrect. The defendants state that any suggestion that any party has won or lost any application in court at this point is wholly untrue and without basis in fact.” – February 14, 2020.
