THERE must be action, not just rhetoric, in the fight for the Palestinian cause, Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday.
The Parliamentary Caucus on Reform and Governance chairman said merely having an agenda is not enough, pointing to the still-restive situation in the Middle Eastern region.
“We will certainly use the League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds (LP4Q) to continue to engage Muslim countries not represented (in the league), to suggest to them a clear position… (that) mere rhetoric is not acceptable, and clear commitment and action (must be taken),” he told the 3rd Annual Conference of LP4Q farewell dinner in Petaling Jaya last night.
Present was Anwar’s wife, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Anwar, who is also PKR president, said Muslim leaders must speak up and claim justice for Palestine.
The two-day conference, which ended yesterday, was organised by LP4Q under Parliament’s patronage with the support of civil society organisations including the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia and Palestinian Cultural Organisation Malaysia.
It was Malaysia’s first time hosting the event. The previous two editions were held in Turkey. – Bernama, February 10, 2020.
