SYED Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has denied reports that he attended a drug-fuelled party raided by cops a week ago.

Among those detained were a special officer to Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq and one to the home minister, and an assemblyman’s aide.

In a statement, Syed Saddiq said he was informed today about a January 17 article published by the Johor Press alleging that he was at the party.

He said the article claimed that he left the private event before the raid, adding that it was republished by Mynewshub.

“This is fake news and has tarnished my good name as youth and sports minister.

“I would like to stress that the article in the Johor Press is untrue.

“In addition, claims that there were attempts to lobby for projects in the Youth and Sports Ministry are wrong and have affected the ministry’s image.”

He said with him at the helm, the Youth and Sports Ministry had a low score in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s Public Service Corruption Ranking.

Syed Saddiq, who is also Bersatu youth chief, said he will lodge a police report over the fake news, and will seek lawyers’ advice on possibly initiating a suit.

Seventeen people were arrested in the raid, conducted about 4.40am on January 12. They included Selangor Bersatu youth leader and Dengkil assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah, an assistant to the prime minister’s political secretary, former SEA Games gymnastics champion Kau Git Kuar, and a businessman and his colleagues.

Of those arrested, 16 tested positive for methamphetamine.

Adhif has told the press that he was “at the wrong place at the wrong time”, and vowed to continue serving his constituency.

Bersatu has suspended the rep and other party members detained in the raid, pending the outcome of police’s probe.

Sources told The Malaysian Insight that police have identified the businessman as the main player behind the party, thrown for civil servants with the aim of obtaining lucrative government contracts.

They said the businessman supplied his guests with women and drugs, and even organised gambling sessions.

Among the women provided at the party were a private college student and foreigners. – January 20, 2020.

  • The fact is he was there. Sounds suspicious, what kind of party Bersatu is holding on and off with drugs involved? Coincidence? Maruah Melayu?
