Saifuddin denies Putrajaya rift with New Delhi

THE Indian government’s recent action in summoning the acting Malaysian High Commissioner has not jeopardised the relationship between Putrajaya and New Delhi, Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said today.

Summoning is an established practice undertaken by any country to obtain a detailed explanation on an issue, and in this connection, the recent summons was for the specific purpose of discussing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in India, he said.

  • India should similarly comment on Malaysia's internal affairs and take Article 153 of the Constitution and its implementation since the inception of the NEP in 1970 to the UNGA and the UN Human Rights Council to investigate if there is institutionalized discrimination and racism in Malaysia. I am sure Mahathir and Saifuddin will be pleased if India does that.
