MALAY pressure groups have called off a rally planned for tomorrow after a court barred a Jawi congress organised by Chinese educationists.

Angkatan Gerak Minda Malaysia (Agra), Perkasa, and Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Semenanjung (GPMS) had earlier threatened to hold a counter gathering to protest against Dong Jiao Zong’s congress to discuss lessons about Jawi in vernacular schools.

Agra president Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim Badrul Munir said in a statement that the group will be monitoring the situation to ensure Dong Jiao Zong abides by the court order and slammed the Chinese educationists as it took a court order for them to cancel the event.

Ashraf – a Bersatu Youth executive councillor – said he will meet Education Minister Maszlee Malik to urge the ministry not to give in to Dong Jiao Zong’s demands.

He said Agra is gathering evidence of Dong Jiao Zong’s misdeeds to present to the Registrar of Societies.

The Chinese educationists’ group has been at the forefront of opposing the plan to introduce lessons about Jawi in the Bahasa Malaysia subject vernacular schools.

The uproar among Chinese educationists has seen the Education Ministry climbdown from its original plan of six pages in the Bahasa Malaysia textbook to just three, and giving schools discretion how to implement the lessons.

But Dong Jiao Zong was still concerned with the lessons, citing fears of Islamisation, and had decided to organise the congress.

Malay pressure groups have taken Dong Jiao Zong’s opposition to Jawi as an affront to Malay culture. – December 27, 2019.

  • These groups are the precursor to the Islamic state( Angkatan Gerak Minda Malaysia (Agra), Perkasa, and Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Semenanjung (GPMS)) These are the groups that international bodies should look at as the beginnings of Radical Islamic Movements. They have one thing in common-they are religiously intolerant and may evolve into Jamaah islam among other organizations.

The worst thing about these groups are that they support BERSATU and use Islam politically for their own motives in support of DR M agenda to revive UMNO.
