Warisan Youth chief's remand extended

PARTI Warisan youth chief Azis Jamman and two Umno division youth leaders had their remand extended for another three days, The Star reported. 

The three men were held over alleged embezzlement of federal funds meant for rural development projects in Sabah.

High Court senior assistant registrar Izat Abd Rahim allowed Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) application for Azis, Tenom Umno Youth chief Jamawi Jaafar and his Tawau counterpart Ariffin Kassim to be held until October 17.

Izat also allowed a businessman who was arrested in connection with the graft probe to be released.

The four men were brought to Kota Kinabalu court complex at about 10am.

Arrifin was represented by Hamid Ismail while Edward Paul acted for the businessman.

The four were among seven people detained in connection with a graft probe into the alleged skimming of up to RM1.5bil in federal project allocations in Sabah through the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.
