HAMID Apdal, the younger brother of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Shafie Apdal, has been remanded for five days starting today.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) prosecutor Mohd Faliq Basirudin had earlier applied for a seven-day remand, but the court reduced this to five days.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie made the decision in court around noon after Hamid was arrested at 9.30pm yesterday night.

He was believed questioned for 10 hours by the MACC and his house in Putatan was also raided around 6pm the same night.

The MACC is expected to make more arrests as it expects to investigate up to 60 companies potentially linked to the misappropriation of RM1.5 billion between 2009 and 2015.

The money was allegedly siphoned from an allocation of RM7.5 billion for rural projects in Sabah.

The Commission had so far frozen RM180 million in accounts. – October 11, 2017.
