PAS supports the Dewan Rakyat’s stand in its July sitting to not debate the latest sex scandal involving a minister, saying that the issue should be handled by the court and authorities.

Party deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the scandal is about allegations that should be dealt with by the judicial system rather than the country’s law-making body.

“I agree with the speaker (Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof) that these allegations should not be debated,” he said, referring to a ruling by Ariff that MPs will be barred from raising the issue.

“The people would not want us to spend time debating about something like this in Parliament. What we should debate are issues important to them such as the economy, cost of living, tolls,” Tuan Ibrahim told reporters in Kuantan, Pahang today.

The clips, which showed two men being intimate, has implicated Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The other man, is said to be Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, a former aide to deputy primary industries minister Shamdul Iskandar Akin.

Azmin has denied these allegations while the authorities have a launched a probe into the authenticity of the clips.

Tuan Ibrahim had earlier called on the religious authorities to prosecute Haziq, who has confessed to being the other man.

“I leave it up to the authorities to take action against Haziq, whether it is the civil or syariah courts. Pas has stated our stand that we don’t want to debate or talk about it.
