HUNDREDS of people thronged the Raya open house at the Malaysian high commissioner’s residence in Templewood Gardens, London, yesterday.

Adding glitter to the event was the presence of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is in the UK on a three-day working visit.

Also present were Dr Mahathir’s wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, their daughter, Marina Mahathir, Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, and Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Guests tucked into Malaysian delicacies, such as satay, ketupat, lemang, chicken rice, kuih and teh tarik. They took the opportunity to snap photos with the prime minister before he left for Cambridge to give a talk for Cambridge Union.

Malaysian High Commissioner to the UK Mohamad Sadik Kethergany told Malaysian media that a turnout of 3,000 people was expected at the open house.

Dr Mahathir, welcoming the guests, expressed surprise at seeing so many Malaysians residing in London.

“Dear Malaysians, come back and help us rebuild Malaysia,” he told the crowd. – Bernama, June 17, 2019.

  • Tun Dr. Mahathir, I did return to Malaysia to give back and transfer my expertise twice for a total of 20 years.

I became a BIG fish in Hong Kong and China in five short years by the end of 2005.

But I remained a SMALL fish in Malaysia for 13 years by the end of 2018.

Until today I have NOT signed a single Government-Linked Corporation (GLC) such as FELDA, Petronas, Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia Airlines, DRB-Hicom, Sime Darby, etc.

In Hong kong I signed up:
    * The worlds top brands such as Coca-Cola China, Coats China, Gap, Nestle, Sheraton.
    * Thousands of top managers attended my ChangeU Public and In-House PowerWorkshops such as the Hong Kong Jockey Club, HSBC, and Hong Kong Airport Services.

Unlike Hong Kong where it is one of the top 3 most free trade markets and a fair and equal playing field based on meritocracy, I was constantly hitting the unfair Non-Malay Glass Ceiling of Malaysia.

Like Robert Kuok, and Anthony Tan (Grab) who moved their HQ to Hong Kong and Singapore where "Malay Kulitfiaction" does not apply; I too moved my HQ to Hong Kong & Shenzhen, China's Silicon Valley - with an Administrative Back Office in KL.
