FORMER prime minister Najib Razak today said DAP’s Lim Kit Siang has lost the right to issue any statements against him after refusing to engage in a debate.

Taking to his Facebook to continue “trolling” Lim today, Najib said he has wanted to ask many questions during the debate, and is disappointed that Lim has “run away”.

“I wished to ask Kit Siang so much more. And I will wait for Kit Siang to answer. But he has run away. Even so, I will not declare Kit Siang a coward.

“I will only call him a serial liar and a dishonest person.

“One more thing, Kit Siang no longer has the right to issue any statements attacking me,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Najib has had a series of posts on his Facebook page criticising Lim’s decision to back out from the debate.

He said he was disappointed with Lim’s reason for pulling out of the debate – that it may trigger racial sentiments.

He added the debate is between two MPs and does not involve racial issues.

“This is a debate, not a wrestling match. Why run?

“[...] Why is DAP playing up racial issues? Is this an admission by Kit Siang that DAP is a Chinese party?

“This is a debate between two parliamentarians. Nothing to do with race,” he said in another post.

He also said Lim will not be able to respond to issues such as the alleged return of funds involving the RM2.6 billion and payments from Saudi Arabia’s finance ministry to Najib.

He said he wants to question Lim on the decision by the Attorney-General’s Chambers to drop a corruption case against his son, Lim Guan Eng.

Earlier this week, Najib had invited Lim to debate him only any subject of his choice, including the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.

He had said a debate with Lim – whom he described as “obsessed” with him – would allow both of them to make their stand on various issues and let the people judge for themselves

Lim however turned down the debate for fear that the event would spiral into a racial conflict.

The DAP supremo had said there was a great likelihood that a debate on “how Malaysia became a global kleptocracy and how we can become a leading nation of integrity” could morph into a Malay versus Chinese clash.

He added the fight against corruption, abuse of power and crimes like money-laundering were not racial or religious issues, but one concerning good values and governance.

Lim had said although he initially agreed to the debate – appointing his aides to liaise with Najib’s officers to finalise details of the debate for after Hari Raya – he was advised by many Malaysians against it. – May 24, 2019.

  • The word 'run away' is not correct in this case. Not appearing in the 'Nothing to hide' meeting during BN days was the real 'run away', which those who know will never forget. Uncle Lim to me you are still one up.
