A MALAYSIAN couple were arrested at Laos’ Vientiane airport on Saturday after 23.84kg of syabu was found in their luggage.

“Police found the drugs in their baggage,” Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department acting director Kamarulzaman Mamat told a press conference at the Subang Jaya district police headquarters.

“It is believed that the couple were tricked by an online syndicate offering a free travel package to Laos.”

He said the syndicate’s modus operandi is to ask victims to take along a “present” to the destination country, without revealing the contents of the package. – Bernama, May 21, 2019.
