DEFENCE Minister Mohamad Sabu will leave the fate of his son, who is to be charged with marijuana use, to the authorities.

“I leave it to them,” he told reporters when met at the Parliament lobby today. “I have no more comments.”

Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said in a parliamentary written reply today that a federal minister’s son will be charged in court soon for drug abuse.

He was replying Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (BN-Lenggong) who had asked why it took so long for action to be taken against “the son of a minister”.

Muhyiddin on Sunday said police had completed their investigations and had already handed the file to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.

Mohamad’s 31-year-old son, Ahmad Saiful Islam Mohamed, was arrested in January after testing positive for drugs after being picked up at an entertainment outlet in Kuala Lumpur.

Back then, Mohamad said he would let his son be subject to the country’s legal process. – April 8, 2019.
