RM4.3 million allocation for Langkawi, Kulim infrastructure

THE Housing and Local Government Ministry today approved a RM4.3 million allocation for Langkawi and Kulim to boost infrastructure and facilities.

Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said the allocation was approved immediately, with RM3.3 million going to the holiday island, which will host the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 beginning Tuesday.

“RM2.8 million is for lighting on the island, and RM500,000 to ensure cleanliness is maintained.

“As for Kulim, RM500,000 is to build trash traps in monsoon drains. Another RM500,000 is for the construction of facilities, such as surau, toilets and a food court, at the Bandar Kulim bus station,” she told reporters in Alor Star.

Earlier, she held a meeting with state Industrial, Investment, Local Government and Housing Committee chairman Tan Kok Yew and 12 heads of local authorities to discuss problems faced by residents in each Kedah district. – Bernama, March 23, 2019.
