ANWAR Ibrahim has declared RM10.7 million worth of land, property, and investments to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, his private secretary Shukri Saad said today.

“The declaration includes a house in Bukit Segambut valued at RM9.5 million, which was purchased for RM4.5 million in 2005.

“Included in the declaration is a piece of land in Permatang Habib, Mukim Penor in Kuantan which was purchased for RM7,000 in 1974. The piece of land is now valued at RM420,000,” said the PKR president’s aide.

Shukri said that other assets include investments and savings amounted to RM828,000.

“As such, the total assets declared is estimated to be around RM10.7 million.”

Anwar, who is the Port Dickson MP, is the latest Pakatan Harapan lawmaker to declare his assets to MACC.

According to the anti-graft agency, 122 (including Anwar) out of 129 government MPs have declared their assets.

This public asset and income declaration exercise was introduced by PH as part of its anti-corruption drive after coming into power last year.

Though not mandatory, most of PH’s elected representatives, government ministers, and deputies have already declared their assets. The list of officials includes political secretaries.

Among the new MPs who joined PH, only Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed and Bagan Serai MP Noor Azmi Ghazali have declared their assets. The seven MPs who defected from Umno last month have not yet filed their asset declaration forms.

None of the opposition MPs from PAS, Barisan Nasional or Gabung Parti Sarawak have declared their assets. – March 7, 2019.
