RISE Ini Kalilah, a Malaysian film on the 14th general election through the eyes of ordinary citizens, is now available on Netflix.

The drama produced by Fred Chong began airing yesterday, several months after its release in Malaysian and Singaporean theatres, said Variety.

Chong told Variety that the story was told “from the lens of six normal citizens, to demonstrate that the power of change comes from unity and determination of its people, not the elected politicians”.

“The world wants to know how a small democracy like Malaysia managed to make a monumental political shift without violence and bloodshed,” he was quoted as saying.

Rise Ini Kalilah, however, only managed to collect RM58,411 after two weeks in theatres. – February 27, 2019.
