PAS talk of a no-confidence motion to remove Dr Mahathir Mohamad is nothing more than an attempt to split Pakatan Harapan, said Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.
“I don’t think there’s any vote of no confidence. They are trying to split us but it’s not working,” said the youth and sports minister today.
Syed Saddiq was commenting on PAS leaders’ claim that internal forces are plotting to table a no-confidence motion against the prime minister in next month’s parliament sitting.
“We are as close as ever and we have presidential meetings every three weeks and cabinet meetings every time. Outside of official meetings, we are united as ever.
“There are always these claims but being a member of the presidential committee we are more united than ever,” said Syed Saddiq said, after a forum on “Conflict of Interest” organised by the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism, today.
He also dismissed DAP Johor state committee member Dr Boo Cheng Hau’s calls for Dr Mahathir to resign over PH’s failure to fulfil its election manifesto.
“The orime minister was given the mandate after GE14 to lead and clean up the country. It is a collective responsibility.”
He said Dr Mahathir had the full support of all the PH components.
“I am sure all of PH, including (Dr Boo’s) party supports Dr Mahathir.” – February 21, 2019.
