PUTRAJAYA must define what terrorism is and who is considered a terrorist to stop the abuse of anti-terrorism laws being used to detain people, Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin said at a forum today.

The mufti said a clear definition was urgently needed as the authorities make subjective calls when dealing with terrorism cases, particularly those involving Muslims.

  • What a weird statement! As a non Muslim I have no clue what hes talking about. However, I do know what extremism, deviation and terrorism is. Terrorism is the use of violence to inspire terror for political reasons. It is aimed at innocent bystanders or government security forces.

  • Asri is a religious bigot and there are questions being raised about his extremist tendencies. This guy needs to be monitored closely and Raja of perlis should reconsider his position as the state mufti.
