KL court rules in favour of casino in RM17.3 million case


Wynn Macau's court victory is the the first time a casino has been allowed to recover dues in Malaysia, as the lack of recognition for wagering or gaming contracts means casinos do not have legal recourse for the gambling dues owed to them by its clients. – EPA pic, January 19, 2019.

RESORT and casino Wynn Macau won a suit in Malaysia yesterday against a fund manager who owed the casino millions of dollars, reported Reuters today.

Wynn brought the lawsuit against Paul Poh Yang Hong in 2017 for HK$33 million (RM17.3 million) he owed the casino.

    If no collateral provided and he can't used the money elsewhere, it is prima facie a wager contract. Good grounds to appeal.
