Boustead joint venture with Rheinmetall to handle Malaysian defence projects

BOUSTEAD Heavy Industries Corporation Bhd has incorporated a joint venture company under the name of BHIC Systems Integration Sdn Bhd (BHICSI) to run activities related to project management, contract administration and related services for the defence industry in Malaysia.

The main focus would be, but not limited to, the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) for the Royal Malaysian Navy, Combat System Equipment and Combat Management System procurement, Combat System Engineering and Combat System Integration activities, it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

BHICSI would be the recipient of the LCS Programme Transfer of Technology obligations to be fulfilled by Naval Group, France, which is the design authority for the LCS,as well as, the combat management system or Combat Ship Equipment Original Equipment Manufacturer, except those for manufacturing activities subject to the terms and conditions of the joint venture agreement dated  August 16, 2017.

The share structure of BHICSI would be 51% held by BHIC Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd while RD Investment AG (RDI) would hold the remaining 49%.

RDI is an investment company incorporated under the laws of Switzerland and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rheinmetall Air Defence AG, which belongs to the Rheinmetall Defence Group, one of the prominent suppliers for defence technology and security equipment. – Bernama, August 23, 2017.
