PAKATAN Harapan has not received membership applications from the Sabah MPs and assemblymen who quit Umno on Wednesday, said Mohamad Sabu.
The PH deputy president, popularly known as Mat Sabu, said the next presidential council meeting will discuss whether to accept them.
“We have not yet discussed this. They can quit first, and if they apply to join us, we will discuss the matter,” Mohamad, who is also Amanah president, told reporters on the sidelines of the party’s third annual general meeting in Ipoh today.
On Wednesday, Sabah Umno saw the departure of nine of its 10 assemblymen, five of its six MPs and two senators.
The assemblymen are Musbah Jamli (Tempasuk), Japlin Akin (Usukan), Hajiji Mohd Noor, Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar (Kawang), Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif (Membakut), Isnin Aliasnih (Klias), Matbali Musbah (Lumadan), Masidi Manjun (Karanaan) and Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (Apas).
The MPs are Abdul Rahim Bakri (Kudat), Azizah Mohd Dun (Beaufort), Yamani Hafez Musa (Sipitang),Ronald Kiandee (Beluran) and Zakaria Mohd Edris (Libaran).
The senators are John Ambrose and Ghani Yassin.
Sg Sibuga assemblyman Musa Aman, who is also former chief minister, and Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin were the only elected representatives who did not join the exodus.
Mohamad lauded the Umno quitters’ move to desert a “sinking ship”.
Meanwhile, former Gerakan lawmaker Loo Yeng Peng has joined Amanah.
Loo, who was Puchong MP from 2004 to 2008, said he wants to strengthen the party’s non-Muslim component.
Amanah, despite being a PAS spin-off, is open to all races and religions, with Hu Pang Chaw being a central committee member. β December 14, 2018.
