Closed Klang hospital cafe in ‘rat video’ reopens same day


THE Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) cafeteria in Klang, which was ordered to close yesterday afternoon, was allowed to resume operations at 10pm on the same day.

HTAR director Dr Ding Lay Ming told Bernama the cafeteria was allowed to reopen following the Klang Health Office’s assessment of its cleanlinesss, which was found to meet requirements.

The Klang Health Office issued a notice for the closure of the cafeteria at 2pm yesterday following an inspection prompted by a 32-second video clip showing a rat helping itself to the contents of the food trays in the cafeteria that went viral.

Selangor Health Department director Zailan Adnan said the cafeteria was allowed to resume operations after for the sake of the hospital staff and visitors.

However, she said the department would continue to monitor the cleanliness of hospital cafeterias and would blacklist or terminate the operators that were often issued clean-up notices. – Bernama, August 20, 2017.
