MALAYSIA will continue to strengthen the good defence relations with Indonesia in the interest of both nations, said Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu.

The ties should be enhanced in all aspects of defence, including between defence companies of the two countries, he said.

“The participation of Malaysia in the Indo Defence 2018 exhibition, for example, proved the commitment of Malaysia to boost existing relations.

“It is also hoped that Malaysia’s participation will attract the participation of defence companies to join Lima’19 (2019 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition),” he said.

Mohamad was speaking at the launch of the Malaysian Pavilion in conjunction with Indo Defence 2018 at Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran, Jakarta, today.

This is the fourth time Malaysia is taking part in the biennial event after making its debut in 2012.

The Malaysian pavilion was organised by the Defence Ministry with the cooperation of the Malaysian Industry for Defence Enforcement and Security (MIDES) as well as EN Projects Sdn Bhd, DSA Exhibition & Conference Sdn Bhd, Deftech, Sapura, Westar, Systematic Aviation, Aerospace Technology Systems Corporation and Advanced Defence Systems.

Meanwhile, EN Projects chairman Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor said their participation in the exhibition was to promote LIMA’19, to be held from March 26 to 30 next year.

“So far, almost 90% of the 325 group of defence companies have confirmed their participation.

“Four aerobatic teams from Russia, South Korea, China and Indonesia have also confirmed,” he said. – Bernama, November 7, 2018.
