THE three youths arrested for allegedly causing a riot at the Nothing To Hide forum in Shah Alam yesterday have been remanded four days to assist police investigation.

The suspects aged 17, 18 and 19, are being investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act for rioting and possession of corrosive and explosive substances and offensive weapons.

The suspects arrived at the Shah Alam Court Complex in Section 5 Shah Alam at 11am and left at 1.30pm. Police had applied to hold them for a week but magistrate Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin set the remand order for four days.

Sources said the suspects’ families were notified but none of the suspects’ relatives were present this morning.

It is understood that the police expect to pick up more suspects involved in the shoe-throwing and flares fracas soon.

Bersatu Youth Chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has said that the three youths were not Bersatu members but had worn T-shirts bearing the Bersatu logo to pass off as members. He questioned if their intention was to hurt Dr Mahathir. – August 14, 2017.
