Pakatan never learns from its mistakes

I BECAME eligible to vote in 1995, and I remember the likes of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Years later, they are still actively involved in politics and though we managed to dethrone Barisan Nasional, its components save for Gerakan have somehow managed to creep back into government.

The fiasco that is our local politics today reminds me of the Trojan Horse from Greek mythology. This is exactly what is happening as Umno sits comfortably in the wooden horse and others like the DAP and PKR blindly open their doors to them.

How is it that those like Anthony Loke, Teo Nie Ching and others do not realise what is going on? Umno is never going to be content with the deputy prime minister post and will definitely look for a larger piece of the cake.

While Loke and gang may be trying to paint a rosy picture of the top, rest assured the same does not resonate among the grassroots.

Umno grassroots do not understand and seem confused while those in the DAP are disillusioned over this sudden “unholy alliance” between two parties who were bitter rivals not so long ago.

Voters like me and many others do not have faith in this unity government and believe it is just a matter of time before Umno shows its true colours.

The only reason this “unholy alliance” was formed was because Umno was desperate and willing to grab any hand that offered it a lifeline.

The party was crumbling from within with several key members having left, and it is riddled with allegations of corruption and abuse of power.

Others were smart enough to steer clear of Umno, but Pakatan Harapan (PH) was not wise enough and took the bait.

I must say I am surprised and greatly upset. PH leaders just don’t seem to learn. Look what happened in 2018 when they trusted Dr Mahathir, a former Umno leader, to become prime minister.

And now, having been given a second chance, they once again allowed the enemy into their home. I have simply given up on PH and will not allow myself to be hoodwinked again. – May 24, 2023.

  • Personally, I don't worry too much about Umno. It's strength is slowly ebbing.

But in PN, a toxic alliance of the corrupt, extremists, idiots, losers, etc is very alarming.

  • The main difference between GE14 and GE15 is that PH won an absolute majority in GE14 while in GE15, they did not win a majority and needs partners. What can we do when the majority of voters wished and voted for the parties that formed kerajaan gagal 1 & 2 despite > 30,000 Covid related deaths and countless white flags being raised?

  • It's a case of better the devil you know than the devil who will burn you.... PN had shown their true colours of just lusting for power and almost zero intention of proper governance ... clueless and greedy.
