DEPUTY Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has assured the unity government of his party Umno’s continued support following internal elections.

Zahid, who is the Umno president said the party election results showed that the members, from the national leadership to the grassroots, clearly supported the unity government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“This is manifest because even though we know that there are efforts to disrupt the current government, they were rejected by the Umno delegates,” he said after attending the unity government secretariat meeting last night in Kuala Lumpur.

The meeting, which lasted about two hours, was chaired by Anwar, who is the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, and attended by leaders of the unity government.

Zahid was confident that every party, including those based in Sabah and Sarawak, in the unity government will continue to support the prime min ister

“The 20 parties in the unity government will be strengthened by the new Umno leadership and God willing, the unity government will become stronger,” he said. – Bernama, March 20, 2023.
