4,759 new Covid-19 cases, 9 more deaths

MALAYSIA recorded 4,759 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total number of infections to 4,619,045 since the start of the pandemic, the Health Ministry said.

Of the 4,759 cases, three were imported cases.

The CovidNow portal showed there were 4,806 recoveries taking the number of active cases to 46,260.

A total of 44,708 people, or 96.6%, were placed under home quarantine while 23 people were treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres.

On hospital admissions, 1,477 people were hospitalised with 52 warded in intensive care units (ICU).

Only 28 required ventilator support.

Nine more fatalities were logged yesterday, with three declared dead on arrival.

The fatalities were reported in Perak (2), Johor (1), Pahang (1), Sabah (1), Sarawak (1), Selangor (1), Terengganu (1) and Kuala Lumpur (1).

To date, 35,932 deaths in Malaysia have been attributed to Covid-19. – July 27, 2022.
