818 hospitalised with Covid

THE Health Ministry yesterday reported 818 hospitalisations linked to Covid-19.

There was a slight drop in the hospital utilisation rate, which stood at 65.6%, down from 65.4% the day before, with coronavirus cases accounting for 27.9% of the bed occupancy rate.

The number of hospital admissions indicates the severity of the virus. Hospital utilisation includes bed usage as well as the number of patients in intensive care units and on ventilators. 

Klang Valley reported for 308 hospital admissions, 227 of them in Selangor, 65 in Kuala Lumpur and 16 in Putrajaya.

Other states that reported new Covid admissions were Johor (157), Kedah (31), Kelantan (52), Malacca (13), Negri Sembilan (43), Pahang (19), Perak (34), Perlis (2), Penang (9), Sabah (91), Sarawak (49) and Terengganu (12).

Malaysia reported 3,010 new infections yesterday.

Selangor reported the highest number of cases at 914, followed by Johor (371) and Kuala Lumpur (226).

Other states that reported new cases were Kedah (175), Kelantan (160), Malacca (144), Negri Sembilan (203), Pahang (207), Perak (120), Perlis (3), Penang (178), Sabah (213), Sarawak (6), Terengganu (63), Labuan (14) and Putrajaya (13).

Malaysia has reported about 2.8 million infections since the onset of the pandemic. – January 17, 2022.
