A FAMILY misunderstanding made a man set fire to his house in Setapak Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, this evening – with the blaze razing two other flat units.

Wangsa Maju police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the 38-year-old suspect, believed to be mentally ill, was detained at the scene after police received information about the incident at 4.30pm.

“We received information of a family quarrel, which allegedly led to the suspect burning his house on the fourth floor. The fire then spread to two other units.

“The suspect tested negative for any illegal substance and has been brought to the district police station for further action.”

He said the fire claimed no casualty, but damaged 90% of all three flat units. – Bernama, January 16, 2022.
