Post-flood clean-up 98% completed

POST-FLOOD clean-ups have reached an overall completion rate of 98% under the first phase, which involves six states, and 100% under the second phase, which involves two states, as of yesterday.

The National Disaster Management Agency said 438 tonnes of waste have been collected in both phases, which utilise 112 types of machinery and 354 workers.

“The first phase of the post-flood clean-up has reached 90% in Johor, with areas of focus at Muar and Segamat. The clean-up remains at 99% in Pahang, as there is a flushing of new waste from housing areas today.”

The agency said the Minerals and Geoscience Department has recorded four landslides, two each in Negri Sembilan and Sarawak, taking the total number of landslides to 280 during the northeast monsoon season this year.

It said 61.7% of households affected by the first wave of floods and 52.3% of households affected by the second wave have received their Bantuan Wang Ihsan payment, involving an allocation of RM64.8 million. – Bernama, January 16, 2022.
