The Great British Circus strives to come back after Covid

THE Great British Circus is back in town after an absence of two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was a nightmare for 30 performers who became stuck in Malaysia when the government enforced the movement control order (MCO).

Circus owner Biliana Kirilova had to use her own money to help the performers to find accommodation during the lockdown period.

“Our performance contract almost finished when Covid happened, I was supposed to send those talents back home but that didn’t happen since the plane was cancelled,” Biliana said.

However, the Moroccan embassy provides additional assistance like food and basic needs for the performers to survive.

On May 1, the government lifted the ban on the entertainment industry, which gives hope for the performers to give the audience an exciting, live experience of what people can do.

Since 2014, the team has travelled all over Malaysia, except the east coast, to show how the 200 years of circus tradition are being performed in modern times. - June 7, 2022.
