FORMER prime minister Najib Razak arrived at the Jalan Duta court complex today to face more charges in connection with a 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) subsidiary.

Najib arrived at 8.50am in a white Vellfire escorted by police outriders for the case mention involving four graft charges.

The former finance minister is expected to face additional charges under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

He was charged in the Sessions Court on July 4 with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of misusing his position under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act.

Najib was accompanied by his son Norashman, daughter Nooryana Najwa and son-in-law Daniyar Kessibayev.

About 20 supporters, led by Umno’s Lokman Noor Adam and actress Ellie Suriaty, were also present.

Speaking to reporters, Lokman insisted that the Pakatan Harapan government had “nothing” to prove Najib stole money from 1MDB and that its election campaign on the issue was full of “lies”.

“They formed the government based on lies… As Malaysians we are demanding that the government of the day dissolve Parliament,” he said.

Najib, who oversaw 1MDB while he was finance minister, yesterday spent about an hour at the MACC office in Jalan Duta for questioning.

In May, he was questioned over three days by MACC over the 1MDB subsidiary, SRC International, one of the entities through which money from the state investor was channelled into Najib’s bank accounts.

Najib is alleged to have received RM42 million as inducement to provide a sovereign guarantee on behalf of the Malaysian government for a RM4 billion loan from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) to SRC International. – August 8, 2018.

  • I believe since losing the Sg Kandis election, Lokmans health has deteriorated.. Does he know what is he talking about? Does he understand the gravity of the political and economic situation of the country that was brought about by the previous government?
Why does he test the intelligence of all Malaysians by saying the legal suit brought against najib are all full of lies. He is calling for Malaysians to dissolve Parliament!
My God, has this man lost his mind. Perhaps, it was a good thing he lost in the by-election!!
