THE anger that the Malays feel for Umno is a passing emotion, and those who voted against the party in the general election are beginning to feel the loss of the party, said Utusan Malaysia, a Malay daily owned by Umno.
Awang Selamat in an editorial column in Mingguan Malaysia wrote that “recent issues” affecting Muslims and Malays have led many Malays to regret the lack of a strong party to defend their causes.
“With all the recent issues which have affected the Muslims and Malays, the need for Umno and PAS to be a source of support is increasing.
“The loss of power by Umno is now felt and regretted by many Malays,” wrote Awang.
The editorial did not state which issues it was referring to.
Utusan had recently come under fire for carrying articles deemed to be inciting racial and religious discord in its coverage of the recent impasse over the appointment of new Attorney-General Tommy Thomas.
In response, the paper’s editor Zulkiflee Bakar had said Utusan will continue to voice out against issues perceived to be a threat to Malays and Muslims.
The paper had slammed the selection of Thomas, who is non-Malay and a Catholic, by prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and had warned that the new A-G’s appointment would erode the rights of Malays and Muslims.
After an almost-three-week impasse with the royalty, the palace finally issued a statement appointing Thomas as A-G on June 5.
In today’s weekend analysis, Awang likened the shift of Malay votes from Barisan Nasional to Pakatan Harapan in GE14 to “tempers and tantrums” which would soon pass.
He wrote that with the election of a new president at the coming Umno polls, the party will be well-placed to regain victory in the 15th general election.
“What’s important, in Awang’s opinion, is that the party must show the sincerity to change because the rejection of Umno is not permanent. The anger and tantrums of the Malays towards Umno won’t last long,” said Awang.
He cited a report by The Malaysian Insight stating that Pakatan Harapan was enjoying a “honeymoon” period as Umno has not shown signs of becoming a worthy opposition, due to its lack of leadership.
“Awang agrees, Umno only lost the GE14 but has not lost everything. BN, which is led by Umno, still has 79 parliamentary seats.
“Umno itself holds 54 seats, the highest compared with other parties including PKR, DAP and PPBM (Bersatu).” – June 10, 2018.

The people voted for Pakatan and we want Pakatan to succeed. All they have demonstrated so far is unrelenting willingness for good governance. The good governance that UMNO/BN will never ever be able to provide

There must be strict laws to curb the use of religion in politics. Those exploiting religion and race to cause disturbances must be hauled and punished.
No political parties must be allowed to use religion as it's thrust. This can be dangerous. These parties must be banned.
Malaysia must look forward to progress as Malaysians. No race and religion issues should be used to cause a rift among races.
Live and let live. PH must take the lead.

Yesterday , Awang Selamat made a claim that the malays are already regretting voting for PH in the last GE. He babbled about some issues that had cropped up since PH won the GE although he didn't manage to elaborate on what specific issues was he basing his column on.
I would guess he must've of meant the appointing of Tommy Thomas as the new AG or the revelation of Saudara Kadir Jasin as to the expenses the Government and by extension the rakyat had to bear for the upkeep of the multitude of Royalties in Malaysia as well as The Agong which Awang perceives as the erosion of malay dominance by the new administration.
I guess when looked upon strictly from a race perspective and in a feudalistic narrow mindset that would be valid arguments. But we all (right thinking malay) knows that Awang is just doing the only thing he knows best and that is to spew such drivel to stir the racial pot of the malays to be emotional and lash out at the new guys in Putrajaya.
Expect some obscure NGO's to gather a few 'members' and make a police report somewhere and make some noises somewhere to entertain us all as is the usual script. What Awang fails to see or chooses to ignore is the undeniable shift of the malays themselves and the pure disgust and hate they hold against his masters in UMNO.
This despite the fact that Utusan Melayu is collapsing because of this very fact and the laying off they will be conducting (all of them malays by the way)...is of no consequence because Utusan for so long has not been a news organization! Instead they have become accustomed to be nothing more than a propaganda machine for UMNO whom while still in power could afford to keep them afloat.
Now that the landscape has shifted the dungu's at Utusan are still clueless as to what constitutes an actual news organization. They, along with Awang shall die a death by a thousand cuts if they keep using this outdated M.O and I hope that they do for the sake of melayu!
Our bangsa are not and will never be served or uplifted by this vile piece of thrash that forever will let us think that we are not good enough to stand on our two feet! They want and need us to believe that it will always be US against THEM in a non ending cycle of stupidity!
