A GROUP of MCA members held a protest at the party’s headquarters in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, today to demand the resignation of a minister accused of “insulting” tycoon Robert Kuok.

About 50 protesters, wearing the MCA uniform, demanded an apology from Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Nazri on Monday attacked the 94-year-old Hong Kong-based tycoon, calling Kuok a “pondan” (effeminate) and a “ayam betina” (hen) hiding behind the wall in Hong Kong.

The MCA members today held placards and banners accusing Nazri of arrogance.

Nazri had hit out at Kuok over claims the latter had channeled funds to DAP. The allegations had been first made in a Malaysia Today post by Raja Petra Kamarudin.

MCA leaders and several Chinese newspapers criticised the minister for his rude comments, saying they undermined communal relations and affected Chinese support towards BN.

Stung by the criticism, Nazri said the MCA no longer represented the Chinese community, going by its disastrous performance in the 13th general election.

Today, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai called Nazri an “Opposition collaborator” for his remarks against the MCA. – March 3, 2018.

  • MCA asking Nazri to apologies? Better ask Boh Hood Ah Liow to quit BN. And just stop all the opera. MCA is slave for Umno.

  • MCA is wasting time and making a fool of itself in demanding Nazri to resign. MCA knows very well that this will not happen, and why is MCA embarrassing itself. MCA should realize that it is not able to protect anybody, or defend anybody. MCA claims to represent Chinese Malaysians and see what happens to Chinese

  • Robert Kuok is strong enough not to respond to whatever criticisms leveled against him, His memoire told the full story and people believe what he has written rather than what has been said of him. Najib said government gave Robert Kuok the key to success. He did not say which safe deposit box was the key for, and how many RM 2.6 billion were inside.
