November 20 ruling in Kevin Morais murder case

SIX men charged with murdering deputy public prosecutor (DPP) Anthony Kevin Morais will know on November 20 if they have to enter their defence.

High Court judge Azman Abdullah set the date after hearing submissions by the prosecution and defence. 

Five men – R. Dinishwaran, 25, AK Thinesh Kumar, 24, M. Vishwanath, 27, S. Nimalan, 24 and S. Ravi Chandaran, 46, are accused of killing Morais between 7am and 8pm on September 4, 2015, along the stretch between Jalan Dutamas Raya Sentul and No. 1 Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya.

They face the death sentence if found guilty.

Col Dr R.Kunaseegaran, 54, who is the first accused, allegedly abetted the five men in killing Morais at the same place, date and time. He also faces the death sentence if convicted.

The prosecution was represented by DPP Mohd Saiful Edris Zainuddin while Kunaseegaran, by counsel N. Sivananthan and Geethan Ram Vincent. 

Vishwanath, Nimalan and Ravi Chandaran were represented by counsel V. Rajehgopal while Dinishwaran and Thinesh Kumar, by counsel M. Manoharan.

During the trial held for 57 days, the prosecution called 70 witnesses.

Morais was reported missing on September 4, 2015. He was seen leaving his apartment at Menara Duta in a Proton Perdana with the registration number WA6264Q.

His body was found inside a drum filled with concrete at Persiaran Subang Mewah, Subang Jaya on September 16, 2015. – Bernama, November 8, 2017.
