PARTI Warisan Sabah today filed a motion at the Sabah State Assembly to table the reinstatement for special state rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Vice-president Junz Wong said the motion was to push the state government to demand Putrajaya reinstate special state rights without compromise.

“The decision to file the motion came about as several ministers from Barisan Nasional have been talking about the return of special rights.

“They said the demand is non-negotiable, and therefore, should be returned to the state without strings attached,” he said in a statement in Kota Kinabalu today. 

Wong said Deputy Chief Minister Raymond Tan, in response to Sabah Pakatan Harapan’s new deal manifesto, said Sabahans were resolute on having all the state rights returned and honoured.

Tan said this as he believed the opposition’s manifesto for Sabah and Sarawak, that was launched last September, was a “renegotiation” on the  terms under MA63.

 State assembly speaker, Syed Abbas Syed Ali who received Wong’s motion has commented on the matter. 

The state assembly will convene from Nov 17- 24 where the state government is also expected to table the state budget. – November 6, 2017.
