Police vows to eradicate illegal gambling

THE police has set up a special committee to wipe out illegal gambling activities nationwide.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIGP) Noor Rashid Ibrahim, who heads the committee, said it would act against illegal gambling outlets and syndicates, most of which were in the Klang Valley and major towns, and those abetting such activities.

“We are serious about tackling gambling activities and want to ensure our actions are effective. The IGP Mohamad Fuzi Harun has also expressed his desire to eradicate illegal gambling nationwide.

“Currently, gambling activities are getting more complex and we need a different approach. So, we must plan to get optimum results from our actions,” he told a media conference at the federal police headquarters at Bukit Aman in Kuala Lumpur today.

On online gambling, Noor Rashid said PDRM would work with numerous parties such as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. – Bernama, September 27, 2017.
