No more talk of PKR-PAS cooperation, Azmin says

PKR will no longer engage PAS in discussions on allocation of seats in Selangor in the next general election, said PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali today.

This is in keeping with the decision of the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council that dismissed any form of collaboration with PAS in the 14th general election, he said.

“PKR will no longer officially have any collaboration with PAS. Instead, it will focus on drawing up a strategy to face three-cornered contests in GE14. We accept that decision and will adhere to it,” Azmin, who is the Selangor menteri besar, told reporters.

Asked about his absence from Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council and PKR Political Bureau meetings, when PKR-PAS collaboration was discussed, he said he had had other matters to attend to.

Azmin had recently said that he was prepared to discuss with PAS the allocation of seats in Selangor for GE14, but this did not go down well with other PKR leaders, among them vice-president Rafizi Ramli who was opposed to the idea because he said it could confuse supporters.

Last May, the PAS Ulama Council decided to terminate the “tahaluf siyasi”, or political cooperation with PKR over claims PAS had been marginalised byPKR actions. – Bernama, August 31, 2017.
